Overheat protection

I live in South Florida and I'm wondering whether I should use the overheat protection and what is the strategy behind it. Thanks
 
I'm in southeast Texas (Houston area). We parked in a doctor's office outdoor parking, and were barely in the waiting room before I got a notice the overheat protection had come on (and the A/C was running). I have the setting at 100 degrees. I immediately ordered the Tesla ceiling screen. Overpriced at $105, but so far it's worked quite well. Good thing, since I understand our super hot weather is continuing this year longer than normal (still better than hurricanes, though!)
